Abstract

Capital plays a crucial role in the process of economic development, particularly in the context of globalization. This paper examines the global flows of foreign physical capital, including foreign direct investment, portfolio investment, foreign aid, remittances, and external debt across major world economies. Using secondary crosssectional data from the World Development Indicators and Statista, the study analyzes the magnitude, composition, and impact of foreign capital flows in different countries. The research highlights how a conducive business environment attracts foreign capital and facilitates technology transfer, infrastructure development, employment generation, and enhanced productivity. At the same time, it also acknowledges the sensitivities and conditionalities associated with foreign capital. The findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, multinational corporations, and multilateral institutions in formulating effective investment and trade policies in a globalized economic framework.
