Abstract

A bio-digital entity refers to an emergent form of existence produced through the systemic integration of biological life with digital and computational technologies. Unlike traditional technological tools that merely assist biological organisms, biodigital entities involve reciprocal interaction, where biological processes and digital systems continuously influence, regulate, and reshape one another. This integration results in a hybrid ontology that transcends the conventional distinction between the natural and the artificial.Thebio-digital entity is understood not as a static object but as a dynamic assemblage, characterized by real-time data exchange, adaptive learning, and co-evolution of biological and digital components. Such entities operate at the intersection of biology, information science, artificial intelligence, and cybernetics, redefining what it means to be a “living” or “intelligent” system.
